During a campaign speech in Portsmouth, US presidential candidate Donald Trump vowed never to allow the Federal Reserve to launch a national digital currency (CBDC). This was reported by The Post Millennial.
Trump highlighted the risks of “debanking and the emergence of political weaponry” that would accompany the implementation of a CBDC.
“As your president, I will never allow the creation of a central bank digital currency. Such an asset would give the federal government absolute control over your money. It would be a dangerous threat to freedom—I will not let it happen in America,” stated the former US president.
A few days ago, another Republican candidate, Vivek Ramaswamy, announced his withdrawal from the presidential race.

“The people spoke loud and clear about who they want,” wrote the politician.
He suspended his campaign after Trump secured a victory in the Iowa caucus. The former president also received support from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley.
Ramaswamy is also a supporter of crypto assets but an opponent of CBDC. Over the past year, the former presidential candidate gained backing from major market players, including Messari CEO Ryan Selkis.
“Vivek is now the most influential libertarian in the country. And he is a supporter of cryptocurrencies. Trump knows he is a valuable asset,” wrote Selkis.
Earlier, Ramaswamy criticized the regulation of the crypto industry in the US. In November 2023, he presented the concept of Three Freedoms of Crypto, which “guarantees a vibrant future for digital assets and economic freedom for Americans.”
Back in the race, another candidate, Robert Francis Kennedy Jr., promised to protect Bitcoin. According to him, the freedom of transactions is as important as freedom of speech.
Kennedy has repeatedly criticized central bank digital currency and also purchased 14 BTC for his children as an investment.
