Dormant Wallets Move 2353 BTC After Eight Years

On March 10, a group of 80 wallets, inactive for over eight years, transferred 2352.62 BTC, valued at over $163 million. This activity was highlighted by the BTCparser service.

The 80 transactions occurred between blocks #834 016 and #834 072. The funds were moved from Legacy addresses to at least 17 different SegWit addresses.

Most of the bitcoins originated from wallets created between August and December 2015. During this period, the leading cryptocurrency was experiencing a prolonged decline following the peak prices of 2013. On September 10, 2015, 1 BTC was valued at $238.

At that time, the wallets held the equivalent of $560,000. By the time of the current transfer, the value had increased by more than 29,000%.

Earlier in March, an unknown user sold 1000 BTC mined in 2010, earning approximately $68 million.
