Australia to test blockchain for the energy market
The Australian energy market протестирует integration of renewable energy on the blockchain under the Project Edge programme.
The DER Marketplace solution is being developed in partnership with energy company AusNet, firm Mondo and technology partners Energy Web, PXiSE and Microsoft.
A$13 million will be spent on the trial (about $9.44 million at the time of writing). The programme aims to aggregate distributed energy resources at home to create a source of energy similar to a power plant.
The initiative will allocate resources to meet demand during peak periods. The blockchain will help create a market that financially incentivises households to contribute excess capacity to the grid.
