Elon Musk challenges Twitter CEO to debate on bots
Billionaire Elon Musk has challenged Twitter’s chief executive Parag Agrawal to a public debate on the share of bots on the social network.
The businessman demanded proof that the share of spam accounts among daily users does not exceed 5%.
He also launched a similar poll among his followers.
Earlier, Twitter rejected Musk’s claim that he was induced to sign the $44 billion takeover agreement under false pretenses.
In April 2022, the billionaire offered to buy Twitter at a price of $54.2 per share. The social network’s management agreed to the terms.
However in May Musk paused the process after reports of inflated audience metrics for the social network. In turn, Twitter shareholders filed suit over the “chaotic process” of the takeover, accusing the head of Tesla of market manipulation.
In July, Musk stated that he was terminating the takeover agreement. The company filed a suit against him, seeking to fulfill obligations and complete the purchase.
On July 29, the billionaire filed a countersuit, the document not yet publicly available. He also said he was ready to close the deal on the original terms if Twitter reveals the sampling method of 100 accounts and the method of confirming their authenticity.
Earlier, Twitter’s lawyers summoned Binance’s cryptocurrency exchange division to court over the funding allocated to the takeover of the social network by Elon Musk. The summons were also served on financial advisers, investors and potential lenders to the businessman.
