Elon Musk says Tesla has begun selling electric cars for Bitcoin

Elon Musk announced that Tesla had begun selling electric cars for Bitcoin in the United States.

Pay by Bitcoin capability available outside US later this year

The entrepreneur added that the option will be available outside the United States later this year. He said the company does not plan to convert cryptocurrency into fiat.

Tesla is using only internal & open source software & operates Bitcoin nodes directly.

Bitcoin paid to Tesla will be retained as Bitcoin, not converted to fiat currency.

Musk noted that Tesla runs its own nodes.
Some US users noted that they do not see the option to buy with Bitcoin.

On February 8, Tesla said that invested $1.5 billion in Bitcoin, after which the asset’s price began to rise sharply. In the same period the automaker announced plans to integrate digital gold as a means of payment for its products.
On February 19, Musk called Tesla’s investments in the primary cryptocurrency “quite risky”. The billionaire hinted that it was not his decision.
According to analysts from Wedbush Securities, Tesla’s unrealized gains from investments in digital gold proved higher than from selling electric vehicles in 2020. The company also stated the dependence of its stock price on the Bitcoin price.
Earlier, former Goldman Sachs investment chief Gary Black urged Tesla to sell Bitcoin to shore up its shares.
