Elon Musk weighs in again on Bitcoin
Bitcoin is on the cusp of broad adoption by traditional market participants. This was stated by Elon Musk, founder of Tesla and SpaceX, during a Clubhouse chat, The Block reports.
According to the billionaire, many friends urged him to buy Bitcoin. Today he concedes that he was late to the party.
“I am a proponent of Bitcoin. I believe the financial world is close to its broad adoption. I have no opinion regarding other cryptocurrencies,” Forbes quotes him.
In the Clubhouse chat, he said he would be more careful with his comments given the outsized influence they have on the market.
Musk also touched on Dogecoin (DOGE), noting that he enjoys “sometimes joking about this.”
“Dogecoin was created as a joke to mock cryptocurrencies. Fate loves irony, and often the most ridiculous outcome ends up being the most likely. It would be fun if DOGE becomes a currency in the future,” he commented.
The repeated comments from the Tesla founder about Bitcoin did not elicit a meaningful market response.
A few days earlier, Musk added to the description of his Twitter account with 44 million followers Bitcoin hashtag. On that day the asset’s price briefly jumped by about 15%.
His tweet, ‘Looking back, it was inevitable,’ was immortalised in the Bitcoin blockchain.
