The amount of locked funds in the Ethereum 2.0 deposit contract has surpassed 10 million ETH (~$26.1 billion), equivalent to 8.4% of the total supply of the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization. Data from Etherscan.

The deposit contract is the largest address in the ecosystem. In second place, with a balance of 7.14 million ETH, is the Wrapped Ethereum contract; in third place — one of Kraken’s wallets (2.11 million ETH).

In March, the number of Ethereum 2.0 validators surpassed 310,000. Since the start of 2022, their number has risen by almost 13%.

According to Staking Rewards, Ethereum 2.0 ranks third by asset value in staking (behind Solana and Terra). The protocol’s annual percentage yield stands at 4.8%.

Earlier, Ethereum abandoned the terms ETH1 and ETH2 in favour of the ‘execution layer’ and ‘consensus layer’ respectively.
