Ethereum 2.0 deposit contract surpasses 10 million ETH

The amount of locked funds in the Ethereum 2.0 deposit contract has surpassed 10 million ETH (~$26.1 billion), equivalent to 8.4% of the total supply of the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization. Data from Etherscan.

The deposit contract is the largest address in the ecosystem. In second place, with a balance of 7.14 million ETH, is the Wrapped Ethereum contract; in third place — one of Kraken’s wallets (2.11 million ETH).

In March, the number of Ethereum 2.0 validators surpassed 310,000. Since the start of 2022, their number has risen by almost 13%.

Over the last six months, the validator participation rate has ranged from 96.16% to 99.73%. This metric reflects the percentage of validators participating in block validation.

According to Staking Rewards, Ethereum 2.0 ranks third by asset value in staking (behind Solana and Terra). The protocol’s annual percentage yield stands at 4.8%.

Earlier, Ethereum abandoned the terms ETH1 and ETH2 in favour of the ‘execution layer’ and ‘consensus layer’ respectively.
