“The dress rehearsal” of the cross-blockchain merge on the PoW and PoS algorithms of the Ethereum testnet named Ropsten will run from June 2 to June 8. This was disclosed by developer Tim Beiko.
📣 Ropsten Merge Announcement 📣
Ethereum’s longest lived PoW testnet is moving to Proof of Stake! A new beacon chain has been launched today, and The Merge is expected around June 8th on the network.

Ropsten is one of the oldest PoW testnets, whose operating conditions approximate the real network. The event will test the system’s operability ahead of the full transition to Ethereum 2.0.
A similar update is expected for other test networks — Goerli and Sepolia. After this, the developers’ focus will shift to the mainnet.
The PoS beacon chain launched for the merge with Ropsten will need to go through the Bellatrix upgrade. Going forward, node operators will need to deploy new hardware parameters.
To reduce transition risk, the Ethereum Foundation raised the maximum bounty reward of the bug-bounty program to $250 000.
Earlier, developers назвали август as the most likely timeframe for Ethereum’s transition to the Proof-of-Stake consensus algorithm.
Earlier, the Beacon Chain network of Ethereum 2.0 undergone a seven-block reorganisation.
