Ethereum Foundation Establishes Independent Group to Uphold Network Values

The non-profit Ethereum Foundation (EF) has announced the formation of the Silviculture Society, an independent group set to provide informal guidance on key issues concerning the ecosystem’s development.

The primary mission of the society is to uphold the project’s fundamental principles, such as open-source code, privacy, security, and resistance to censorship.

“The roots of the Infinite Garden are nourished by soil rich with these core values,” stated the EF.

The Silviculture Society comprises external experts whose advice will assist the foundation in making decisions that preserve Ethereum’s original ideals.

Among the society’s members is Matthew Green, a senior lecturer at Johns Hopkins University’s Department of Computer Science and one of the authors of the original Zerocash white paper.

Earlier this month, EF allocated $120 million to DeFi protocols and donated $1.25 million to support Tornado Cash developer Alexey Pertsev.
