Ethereum projects launch MEV Blocker to shield users from MEV attacks

More than 30 Ethereum projects have joined forces to launch the MEV Blocker tool, designed to protect users from front-running and ‘sandwich attacks’ within MEV.

MEV bot operators extract profits from the ability to preview transactions in the mempool. By including their trades in the block, they can front-run favorable offers (front-running) or implement other strategies. Also involved in this structure are searchers, who find MEV opportunities and act as intermediaries between block creators and validators.

MEV Blocker was created by specialists from the DEX CoW Swap, Agnostic Relay and Beaver Build. The solution provides users with a free RPC endpoint, RPC, which “pays” users for protection from MEV in a wide range of DeFi, NFT and dapps use cases,” the developers explained.

“MEV Blocker works by routing all transactions through a network of searchers, which is structured to block front-running and ‘sandwich attacks’,” the statement said.

Then the searchers bid for the right to backrun transactions fed by the tool. The user receives 90% of the extracted profits, 10% goes to validators.

MEV Blocker sends the formed transaction packets to major block builders such as Builder0x69, bloXroute, Blocknative, Flashbots, rsync builder and Beaver Build.

More than 30 Ethereum projects participated in the initiative, including Balancer, Gelato, Gnosis DAO, bloXroute, 1inch, Safe, Paraswap, ZeroMEV and others.

Earlier, the Flashbots organization introduced the MEV-Share solution, which expands users’ ability to participate in profits from MEV arbitrage.

Back in March, MEV revenue reached a new high amid the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank and the depeg of USD Coin (USDC).
