Ethereum tops $3,000, pushing Vitalik Buterin to billionaire status

The co-founder of the second-largest cryptocurrency, Vitalik Buterin, has joined the ranks of billionaires. This came after Ethereum $3,000 mark was crossed.

At the time of writing, Buterin’s holdings stood at 333,520 ETH, worth $1.06 billion.

According to Coingecko, the coin is valued at $3,180, up 10.4% in the last 24 hours. Over the past week, prices rose 37.8%.

In 2019, ForkLog reported that, in addition to Ethereum, Buterin was hodling Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Dogecoin and Zcash. At that time, they were valued at less than 10% of the value of the second-largest cryptocurrency he held. Also in his portfolio were tokens KNC, MKR, OMG and REP.

Earlier, Buterin donated 100 ETH and 100 MKR (roughly over $600,000) to a fund addressing the coronavirus pandemic in India.
