The return of funds by the hacker, who called himself “Jacob”, was accompanied by on-chain messages in which he apologised for the breach.

“I don’t think this will help me, but I still want to say that I messed up. I didn’t want this, but I stole the money, ruined other people’s lives. … Forgive me”, — he wrote.

In another message the hacker promised to return all remaining funds in the near term.

“The rest of the money will be returned in the shortest possible time. I am only concerned about my safety, and that is the reason for the delay. I apologise for any misunderstanding”, — he added.

Euler Finance representatives have not yet commented on the situation.

Earlier, on March 13, Euler Finance was hacked using flash loans. The hacker withdrew from the protocol assets worth about $196 million. In particular, the hacker stole more than 85,800 ETH.

On March 25, in five transactions, the hacker returned to the project the bulk of the stolen funds — over 58,700 ETH. In this light, the governance token price of EUL rose above $4 for the first time since the hack.
