
Europeans report a widespread Google outage
On December 14, around 14:27 MSK, a widespread outage affected Google services.
According to DownDetector, users report problems accessing the search engine, Gmail, Sheets, the Play Store and other services, with complaints from Eastern and Western Europe, North and South America, the western part of Russia, India and Japan.

YouTube video hosting is also unavailable.
According to unconfirmed information from a Google employee in Germany, the outage affected servers based in the United States, Canada and France.
Technical staff are working to resolve the issues. Services are expected to be restored within 10-30 minutes after the servers are rebooted.
Update: YouTube service restored at 15:39 MSK; access to Gmail remains problematic.

“We have resolved the Gmail issue for the vast majority of affected users and we are continuing restoration work. Ensuring the reliability of the system is Google’s top priority, so we are not stopping the improvement of our systems,” noted on the на странице статуса Google.
Update: Google attributed the outage to issues with an internal storage backend, which led to the incorrect operation of the authentication system.
