
Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram suffered a widespread outage
Users around the world reported an outage affecting Facebook.
Problems also affected the company’s WhatsApp and Instagram services. Downdetector also logged outages at Twitter and Amazon Web Services.
No reason for the outage has been disclosed yet.
The author of the Telegram channel ‘Za Telekom’, Mikhail Klimarev, suggested that the outages were related to DNS records:
Bloomberg also reports that the problem lies with DNS. Meanwhile, according to Forbes Real-Time, the net worth of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg fell by $6.4 billion.
The New York Times reporter Sheera Frenkel, citing Facebook insiders, said that employees could not access offices to assess the scale of the outage because badges were not working.
Was just on phone with someone who works for FB who described employees unable to enter buildings this morning to begin to evaluate extent of outage because their badges weren’t working to access doors.

Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp were fully restored after the outage.
