FIFA and Mythical Games Unveil Mobile NFT Game

Mythical Games and FIFA have announced the launch of FIFA Rivals, an officially licensed mobile arcade football game featuring NFT cards.

According to the developers, FIFA Rivals is a free-to-play game for iOS and Android, where players can create their own football team, develop it, and compete against others in real-time PVP matches.

The project includes in-game and web marketplaces for trading athlete NFT cards. The tokens will be issued on the Mythos blockchain, built on Polkadot.

FIFA Rivals will continue the concept of Mythical Games’ previous project, NFL Rivals, a mobile arcade game about American football that has surpassed 6 million downloads.

“Our goal is to replicate the success of the previous Rivals game and set new standards in the Web3 gaming sector,” said Mythical Games CEO and founder John Linden.

In 2021, Mythical Games raised $150 million for the development of the multiplayer game Blankos Block Party and a platform for creating similar applications. According to the director, the studio was not seeking funding at the time, but venture firm Andreessen Horowitz approached them and organized the round.

In October, a survey by Elympics revealed that the complexity of cryptocurrency payments has been a barrier to the popularization of blockchain games.
