First XRP-ETF to Launch in the United States

Alternative asset manager Teucrium Investment Advisors is set to introduce the first exchange-traded fund (ETF) in the United States based on Ripple’s XRP token.

Trading of the Teucrium 2x Long Daily XRP ETF (ticker: XXRP) will commence on April 8 at the NYSE Arca exchange. The initial offering will introduce 80,001 shares to the market.

According to the description, the fund “seeks daily investment results that correspond to twice (2x) the daily price performance of XRP.”

Leveraging allows investors to access the asset with less capital expenditure and amplifies the impact of daily price fluctuations of the token, effectively doubling market exposure.

Bloomberg analyst Eric Balchunas described the move as “very odd.” He confirmed that XXRP is the first XRP-based ETF in the U.S.

“Spot XRP funds are still not approved, although the odds are pretty high,” noted Balchunas.

As reported, the SEC is reviewing applications for similar XRP-ETFs from 21Shares, Bitwise, and CoinShares.
