Former FinCEN director Robert Werner has stepped down as Libra Association’s chief legal officer after three months in the role.

In a comment to Bloomberg Law he explained that the position would have required him to resign from his seats on the boards of Deutsche Bank Trust Co. and Deutsche Bank Trust Co. Americas.

His successor will be former US Department of Homeland Security General Counsel Steve Bunnell. Up to 2013 he was managing partner at international law firm O’Melveny & Myers.

“Steve is an outstanding lawyer and a great guy. I decided that this position wasn’t for me,” Werner said.

As previously reported, Libra Association announced Werner’s appointment on May 19.

In early May, the Libra Association appointed former Deputy Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, Stuart Levi, as its new CEO.
