
Former Gemini executive to lead Bitcoin exchange Bitstamp
Nejc Kodrič has stepped down as CEO of Bitstamp, the oldest European Bitcoin exchange. His position has been filled by Julian Sawyer.

Sawyer served as managing director of Gemini’s European arm, run by the Winklevoss twins. He previously led Starling Bank and served as an adviser to other banks.
Bitstamp expects Sawyer’s experience to help the exchange reach a new level.
“He understands the opportunities that cryptocurrency affords the world and how to integrate it with existing financial structures,” the statement said.
Kodrič remains on the trading platform’s board of directors.
According to CoinGecko, at the time of writing Bitstamp ranks eighth among the largest cryptocurrency exchanges. Its 24-hour trading volume stands at $380.5 million.

Earlier Bitstamp announced the possible listing of Cardano (ADA), Solana (SOL), Dai (DAI), Polkadot (DOT). The list includes 23 cryptocurrency assets in total.
Earlier Bitstamp replaced its own order-matching engine with a Nasdaq solution to boost throughput.
