The Fox network announced the launch of a fund to invest in non-fungible tokens (NFTs) totaling $100 million. The news was reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
In May, Fox announced the creation of the business unit Blockchain Creative Labs, which will focus on NFT operations, launching a platform for selling digital goods. Animation studio Bento Box joined the deal.
“Our long-standing relationships with the creative community will allow us to use the technology to connect brands and producers with fans in new, exciting ways,” said Scott Greenberg, CEO of Bento Box, in a comment to AdWeek.
Earlier, Fox and the creator of “Rick and Morty,” Justin Roiland announced “the first blockchain-based animated series” titled “Krapopolis.”
As noted, NFT sales over the past 30 days have fallen by about 20-fold, according to Nonfungible.
