Franklin Templeton to launch cryptocurrency investing strategies

Franklin Templeton agreed to collaborate with Eaglebrook Advisors. In the fourth quarter, Eaglebrook Advisors’ clients will gain access to two digital-asset-focused strategies.

The initiative is directed at registered investment advisers (RIA) within separately managed accounts (SMA).

\n\n\n\n

“Such SMAs offer direct ownership, minimal tracking error, and modest reporting integration effort,” — according to a statement.

\n\n\n\n

In April 2022, Franklin Templeton made strategic investments in Eaglebrook Advisors.

\n\n\n\n

The Franklin Templeton Digital Assets Core is based on investing in a basket of the 10-15 largest digital assets by market-cap weighting.

\n\n\n\n

As of June 30, it included:

\n\n\n\n

• Bitcoin — 69.25%;
• Ethereum — 26.15%;
• Solana — 1.65%;
• Polygon — 0.61%;
• Chainlink — 0.52%;
• Tezos, Decentraland, The Sandbox, Filecoin, Aave, Axie Infinity, The Graph, Fantom — total 1.82%.

The Franklin Templeton Digital Assets Core Capped repeats the previous one with a cap of 25% on each asset’s weight.

As of June 30, it included:

• Ethereum — 25%;
• Solana — 9.83%;
• Polygon — 5.74%;
• Uniswap — 5.57%;
• Chainlink — 4.91%;
• The Sandbox — 3.32%;
• Tezos — 3.32%;
• Filecoin — 3.19%;
• Axie Infinity — 3.13%;
• Aave — 2.62%;
• Fantom — 2.34%;
• The Graph — 2.33%.

CEO of Eaglebrook Advisors Christopher King told Blockworks that the new Franklin Templeton offerings mark a turning point for cryptocurrencies. The US wealth-management market requires RIAs to adopt professional digital-asset SMA strategies, he added.

As reported in December 2021, the investment adviser Ritholtz Wealth Management and the asset manager WisdomTree Investments launched the RWM WisdomTree Crypto Index. The structure provided access to investments in leading digital assets, DeFi tokens, metaverses, oracles and L2-protocols.

Earlier Franklin Templeton announced the launch of ETF focused on virtual worlds.
