Fraudsters Target Hamster Kombat Players
Two fraudulent campaigns targeting Hamster Kombat players have been identified on Telegram, according to analysts from F.A.C.C.T.
The clicker game currently lacks a feature for withdrawing in-game bonuses. However, researchers have found approximately 200 resources offering to mediate their transfer to a TON wallet by linking it to a special application. This allows fraudsters to gain full control over the user’s assets.
The second scheme involves sending phishing links purportedly for logging into Telegram and launching the Hamster Kombat bot. Following these links results in the user losing access to their account.
F.A.C.C.T. experts advise against linking cryptocurrency wallets to dubious services and sharing recovery phrases with anyone.
Launched in March, the Hamster Kombat clicker game on Telegram is rapidly gaining popularity. According to the project’s internal statistics, the number of players has exceeded 150 million.
Earlier, the cryptocurrency exchange KuCoin announced the pre-market of the in-game token HMSTR. The start of trading has been postponed multiple times and is currently scheduled for June 20.
In Uzbekistan, players of Hamster Kombat have been threatened with arrest and fines.
