Galaxy Digital and Alerian launch eight blockchain- and crypto-focused indices

The cryptocurrency trading bank Galaxy Digital Holdings, in collaboration with Alerian and S-Network Global Indexes, launched eight blockchain- and digital-asset-focused indices.

According to the press release, the benchmarks track the prices of publicly traded companies operating in the crypto, blockchain and mining space, as well as the quotes of certain digital-asset-based investment products.

The Alerian Galaxy Global Blockchain Indexes family includes:

• Alerian Galaxy Global Blockchain Equity Index (BLKCHN);
• Alerian Galaxy Global Blockchain Equity and Futures Index (BLKCNF);
• Alerian Galaxy Global Blockchain Equity, Trusts & ETPs Index (BLKCNP);
• Alerian Galaxy Global Blockchain Index (BCHAIN).

The Alerian Galaxy Global Cryptocurrency-Focused Blockchain Indexes group includes:

• Alerian Galaxy Global Cryptocurrency-Focused Blockchain Equity Index (CRYPTE);
• Alerian Galaxy Global Cryptocurrency-Focused Blockchain Equity and Futures Index (CRYPTF);
• Alerian Galaxy Global Cryptocurrency-Focused Blockchain Equity, Trusts & ETPs Index (CRYPTP);
• Alerian Galaxy Global Cryptocurrency-Focused Blockchain Index (CRYPTO).

For example, the latter tracks, among other things, movements in the shares of crypto companies such as Bit Digital, Bitfarms, Coinbase, as well as Tesla and MicroStrategy, which have invested in Bitcoin.

BCHAIN from the blockchain family is based on the share prices of Microsoft, Facebook, Mastercard, as well as Grayscale’s Bitcoin and Ethereum trusts.

The indices are passive, rebalanced monthly and are intended to create a truly diversified portfolio representing the ecosystem, according to the statement.

Earlier, Galaxy Digital, in partnership with Bloomberg launched the index, which tracks the state of the decentralized finance sector.
