Commentators from the crypto community appeared under the post. Barry Silbert, founder of Grayscale, recommended that Williams acquaint herself with his investment firm. In his note he drew attention to the name — in Game of Thrones there is a disease called \”Greyscale\”.

Some users were categorical in their responses. In the comments they described investments in the leading cryptocurrency as \”crazy bets\”, \”an environmental catastrophe\”, and advised not to gamble with their money.

Bitcoin is an environmental disaster, built on the principle of consuming ever larger amounts of energy. If it ever achieves the success its proponents hope it will it be the final nail in the coffin of a livable Earth.

Earlier, author J.K. Rowling asked the community to tell her about the first cryptocurrency. The discussion drew responses from Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin, and also Tesla and SpaceX chief Elon Musk.

Two days later Rowling said she had trolled Bitcoin in the hope of boosting her substantial Ethereum holdings. The latter claim proved unfounded.
