Genesis Digital Assets launches three new data centres for Bitcoin mining

American mining company Genesis Digital Assets (GDA) has launched three new data centres in eastern South Carolina to mine Bitcoin. The Block.

The firm intends to use renewable energy sources to power the facilities.

One facility will deploy dry-type distribution transformers with a total capacity of 18 MW. Another will be connected to hydroelectric power.

The initiative aligns with the company’s strategy to expand its presence in the United States.

According to the company’s press release, GDA operates 20 mining farms in North America, Europe and Central Asia with a total capacity of over 400 MW.

As part of the debt-ceiling deal the 30% tax on mining was removed.

In March, CEA presented a report, in which it states that cryptocurrencies do not meet the claimed use cases. The experts also highlighted risks of digital assets for investors and financial stability in general.
