Google Cloud Platform to become a Solana validator

The Google Cloud Platform will launch a node on the Solana network and add blockchain support to the Blockchain Node Engine service for Web3 developers.

Introduced in October 2022, Blockchain Node Engine allows users to deploy nodes on Google’s cloud platform. At the time of writing, the service operates exclusively with the Ethereum blockchain — Solana support will be added in 2023.

Speaking at the Solana Breakpoint conference, Google Product Manager Nalin Mittal also said that Google Cloud will integrate Solana into the BigQuery data-analytics web service. In his words, the tool will receive the relevant functionality in the first quarter of next year.

In November 2022, the major German hosting provider Hetzner blocked access to servers hosting Solana nodes.
