Google Integrates AI Feature for Business Calls in Search

Google has introduced a new AI feature in its search engine, enabling it to independently call local businesses to verify prices and availability of products or services, subsequently relaying the information to the user.

“Search now has agent capabilities: it can call local businesses using artificial intelligence to check prices and availability, saving you the trouble of finding this information yourself. The feature is being rolled out in the US with extended access for AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers. It’s now much easier to cross ‘dry cleaning’ off your to-do list,” noted Google Search Vice President Robby Stein.

The tool is built on Google Duplex, a conversational AI launched in 2018. It employs speech recognition and contextual understanding for natural interactions with businesses, summarizing the conversation using artificial intelligence.

Alongside this, the corporation has launched a new tool, Deep Search, based on the Gemini 2.5 Pro model. It facilitates advanced research and offers “solutions to the most complex questions.”

To use it, one must select the model from a drop-down menu.

Deep Search employs a fan-out processing method to analyze hundreds of websites, comprehend them, and compile a comprehensive report with sources.

“With Deep Search, hours-long research for work, hobbies, and important life decisions can now be conducted in minutes,” Stein noted.

AI startups are attempting to capture a share of the search market from Google by offering their own browsers and encouraging users to abandon Chrome.
