From 3 August 2021, the search giant Google will allow promotion through its advertising services of cryptocurrency exchange services and digital wallets to users in the United States.
According to the заявлению, advertisers must meet the established requirements and undergo Google certification. To qualify, they must either be registered with FinCEN as a money services business (MSB), or hold a banking licence in at least one state.
Advertisers must also comply with local regulatory requirements and ensure that their adverts conform to Google’s policies.
Advertising will remain prohibited for:
- initial coin offerings (ICOs);
- DeFi protocol services;
- promotions of cryptocurrencies by celebrities;
- pages with aggregated data or comparative analyses of digital assets.
Google will revoke all active cryptocurrency exchange certifications on August 3. To obtain new ones, a form will be available from July 8.
Google had banned advertising of cryptocurrencies and related content in June 2018. Later, promotion of cryptocurrency exchange services became possible in the United States and Japan, but only by certified companies.
