Google to unveil ChatGPT rival in the coming months
Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced an expansion of AI features in the search engine ‘in the near future’.
‘Very soon people will be able to interact directly with our newest and most powerful language model as a supplement to search in experimental and innovative ways,’ he said.
During a conference call with investors, Pichai shared how the company plans to ‘unlock the incredible possibilities that AI opens up.’
The head of the company also stated that early Google research helped create ‘generative artificial intelligence applications you are starting to see today.’
According to Pichai, the company plans to roll out a host of features over the next several months, an effort it has been preparing for since ‘the beginning of last year.’
Pichai noted that Google studies AI with a ‘deep sense of responsibility.’ The company will release new features ‘cautiously’ and gradually scale up the scope of its lab research, he added.
Also Google announced an event focused on search and AI. It will take place on February 8, 2023 at 12:30 CET.

During the 40-minute presentation, the company plans to explain how it uses AI to rethink search. It is not known whether developers will show LaMDA integration in the Search service.
Earlier reports indicated the company had begun testing a competitor to OpenAI’s ChatGPT and a new search page.
Earlier in January, Google’s leadership sought advice on AI development from the company’s founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin.
In the same month, reports said Microsoft planned to add ChatGPT to its Bing search engine.
