GTA Publisher to Launch Ethereum Game Sugartown

The publisher of Grand Theft Auto, Take-Two Interactive Software, through its subsidiary Zynga, announced the release of Web3-game Sugartown. The Block reports.

Access to Sugartown will require ERC-721 tokens named Oras, which, when staked, will allow players to accumulate energy, earn in-game currency, and receive rewards.

The initial issuance of 10,000 tokens is slated for the end of 2023.

Previously, Take-Two Interactive Software CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed interest in NFT for use in games, while noting their speculative nature.

In July, Sega postponed the launch of its own blockchain games, saying they were ‘boring’ and not enjoyable.
