Malicious actors compromised 148 wallets of Vulcan Forged NFT marketplace users and stole 4.5 million PYR tokens (more than $100 million at the time of writing).
According to Vulcan Forged, hackers gained access to users’ private keys.
The team emphasised that it has already contacted exchanges asking them to blacklist the wallet address linked to the hack. It is also reported that on one exchange its owner may have gone through a KYC procedure, but Vulcan Forged has not disclosed details yet.
The marketplace promised to compensate all stolen PYR tokens and other coins if the attackers took them. The platform team has also begun developing a fully decentralized solution for configuring wallets.
In light of the news, the price of the PYR token fell by almost 15%.
Earlier, the cryptocurrency exchange AscendEX reported a hack of hot wallets on Ethereum, Polygon and Binance Smart Chain.
