Hackers Compromise Notcoin’s X Account
The team behind the gaming Web3 project Notcoin has reported a breach of their account on the social network X. Users have been urged to avoid clicking on any posted links.

The Telegram application is marketed as a clicker game. Users collect non-existent NOT tokens by tapping on an animated coin image on the screen.
Within 26 days of its launch on January 1, 20 million people participated in Notcoin activities. For comparison, at its peak in January 2022, Axie Infinity had only 2.78 million active users per month.

“I would attribute this to the simple and viral mechanics that encourage users to invite their crypto friends from the Telegram messenger,” commented the project’s founder, Sasha Plotvinov, to Web3 Gamer.
The team has never explicitly promised the launch of a real token. Notcoin’s slogan reads: “Probably nothing.”
“There is no Notcoin token. It has no market value and is an in-game virtual asset within the Web3 ecosystem of Telegram, not functioning as a cryptocurrency,” states an official declaration from the project, as quoted by Web3 Gamer.
The team has regained control over the X page.

“Friends, we are back. Be cautious with the Twitter platform,” the message reads.
Back in January, a hacker breached the X account of Algorand Foundation CEO Stacey Warden, not to post phishing links, but to criticize the project.
