Experts detected Monero-mining malware in a file named spiderman_net_putidomoi.torrent.exe. It appears to have been created on a Russian-language torrent platform.

The covert miner can remain undetected for long periods by abusing the exclusions in Microsoft Defender antivirus scans.

Researchers noted that the malware does not compromise personal information but slows the victim’s computer by imposing additional CPU load.
