Hackers stole $160 million from Wintermute

The market-maker Wintermute has lost assets worth $160 million in a hacker attack.

We’ve been hacked for about $160M in our defi operations. Cefi and OTC operations are not affected

The platform’s CEO Evgeny Gaevoy emphasised that the attack targeted DeFi operations. According to him, OTC— and CEX-modules are operating as usual.

Gaevoy added that Wintermute remains solvent — its reserves are twice the amount stolen.

“Today, and perhaps in the coming days, our services will operate with disruptions, after which everything will fall into place,” he noted.

In total, according to Gaevoy, 90 different assets were stolen.

Earlier Wintermute obtained the right to issue the USDD stablecoin of the TRON DAO Reserve.

As reported, attackers stole about $3.3 million from Ethereum users who generated addresses through the Profanity tool.
