Hamster Kombat Loses Nearly 260 Million Players Post-Listing
The Telegram clicker Hamster Kombat has experienced a significant decline in active players following what users deemed an unsuccessful airdrop.
According to the app’s statistics, the monthly number of “tappers” has dropped to 40.9 million, down from 300 million at the end of September. The token price of HMSTR, which was $0.011 on the listing day of September 26, has plummeted to $0.002431 at the time of writing, as reported by CoinGecko.
In early July, Telegram founder Pavel Durov described Hamster Kombat as an “internet phenomenon” and “the fastest-growing digital service in the world.”
Nevertheless, the repeated postponement of the trading start date on major bitcoin exchanges, along with the exclusion of most players from the airdrop lists, sparked outrage within the community.
Out of 300 million players, only 131 million received tokens. Approximately 2.3 million users were banned for cheating.
In mid-October, Hamster Kombat developers hinted at the imminent launch of a second season and commented on the decline in HMSTR’s price.
Previously, Notcoin creator Alexander Plotvinov stated his disbelief in the perpetual profit model of Tap-to-Earn, where players are motivated solely by potential earnings.
