Hashrate and Ethereum mining difficulty hit new all-time highs

The mining difficulty of Ethereum, the second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap, and its total hashrate reached new all-time highs.

The previous record-high difficulty of 3606 TH, according to Etherscan, was recorded on August 9, 2018. On Sunday, November 29, this figure rose to 3748 TH.

The previous maximum hashrate was also observed on August 9, 2018 — 295.91 TH/s. As of publication, the figure had risen to 312.63 TH/s.

The average transaction fee in the Ethereum network after a recent increase to $7.7 fell to $1.1. The coin was trading just above $550 at the time of publication.

Earlier this week, the zero-phase launch of Ethereum 2.0 is slated for December 1. The balance of the deposit contract, which enables moving ETH from the existing network to ETH2, confirming staking powers, surpassed the required threshold earlier this week.
