
In China, hacker sentenced to ten-and-a-half years for stealing 383 ETH
The People’s Court of Shanjiao City, Guangxi Province, handed down a guilty verdict against a hacker who stole more than 383 ETH from the victim’s phone using a Trojan. местные СМИ.
According to case materials, in spring 2018 the defendant, using a Trojan, gained access to the victim’s imToken wallet on the victim’s phone. During March–April he made more than 520 withdrawals totaling 383.6 ETH. Subsequently the attacker exchanged these coins for 109,458 USDT.
After the hacker’s arrest, police returned all the stolen assets to the victim.
The court sentenced the perpetrator to ten years and six months in prison, and ordered a fine of 200,000 yuan (over $28,000).
