The issue of digital currencies was discussed at the council’s meeting.
“After a thorough examination of the issue and consultations, those present reached a unanimous conclusion that such actions are prohibited for a devout Muslim,” the council said.
Earlier, the Grand Mufti of Egypt asserted that trading Bitcoin contradicts Islamic principles.
