Kaluga resident wired 5 million rubles to two fake Bitcoin exchanges

In Kaluga, police are seeking scammers who lured a Russian citizen out of 5 million rubles under the guise of cryptocurrency investments. The information was сообщили in the local Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to investigators, the victim met a woman online who persuaded him to register on the sites of two exchanges and to deposit funds into his personal account.

The Kaluga resident borrowed the money from acquaintances and also took out a loan to finance the transactions.

When the amount of the investment exceeded 5 million rubles, he wanted to cash out the virtual funds, but a commission was charged for the operation. After paying it as well, the victim discovered that the site was blocked. The woman stopped getting in touch with him.

The police opened a criminal case for fraud on a particularly large scale.

Earlier, more than 7 million rubles on “Bitcoin investments” were lost by a pensioner from Salekhard.
