Kazakhstan tallies closures of illegal Bitcoin exchanges.

Since the start of 2023, Kazakhstan’s Financial Monitoring Agency (AFM) остановило the activities of 980 illegal cryptocurrency exchange platforms.

Law enforcement authorities have opened nine investigations into illegal exchange transactions totaling $36.7 million.

Representatives of AFM presented their experience in fighting money laundering in China, notably their use of AI-based technologies.

Back in late November, in the Karaganda region, authorities halted the activities of a citizen who was selling cryptocurrency on an unnamed crypto exchange. Over three years, he carried out transactions totaling more than $205,000.
