Khakassia resident handed over almost 3 million rubles to cryptocurrency scammers
A resident of Khakassia filed a report with law enforcement about a fraud by unknown individuals offering large profits from investments in cryptocurrency.
As the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports, the applicant found online advertising promising profits from investments in digital assets, after which a manager contacted him.
The latter acted as a consultant, including explaining where to transfer the funds.
Ten days later, the Khakassia resident wanted to convert the purchased cryptocurrency into dollars, but the manager stopped communicating with him.
The victim lost 2,970,000 rubles, most of which he borrowed.
A criminal case has been opened for fraud on a particularly large scale.
Earlier, the Interior Ministry reported that several Russians in total handed over about 8 million rubles to criminals while trying to invest in cryptocurrency.
