Xiao-Wei Wang and Tomasz Stanczak have been appointed as the new co-executive directors of the Ethereum Foundation (EF), effective March 17. The announcement was made in the organization’s blog.
If we play our cards right, we’ll remember today as one of the most consequential turning points in Ethereum’s history.

“If we play our cards right, today will be remembered as one of the most important turning points in Ethereum’s history,” commented core developer Tim Beiko on the appointments.
Stanczak is the founder of the Nethermind project and an early member of the Flashbots team. Beiko endorsed the candidate, highlighting his experience in Ethereum client development and scaling one of the most successful independent organizations in the ecosystem. Stanczak will continue his work at Nethermind but will step down as the project’s director.
Wang has worked at the Ethereum Foundation for seven years as a researcher and contributed to the development of the Beacon Chain.
“[Wang] is one of the few who was directly involved in the transition to Ethereum 2.0 from the very beginning. She literally created the first diagram that demonstrated how sharding works,” added Beiko.
In his view, Wang understands how research transforms into specifications that eventually make their way into clients.
On February 25, EF CEO Aya Miyaguchi announced her transition to the role of president of the organization.
“Around the world, teams and individuals talk about Ethereum as if it were their own, but it is precisely in this tension that our greatest strength lies: Ethereum belongs to everyone precisely because it belongs to no one,” she noted.
Earlier in February, the Ethereum Foundation established the independent group Silviculture Society to uphold the network’s values.
