Several sites are in fact nearly exact copies of the original Uniswap (uniswap.org).

The main difference becomes apparent when attempting to exchange cryptocurrencies and connect a wallet.

On the original site, the platform either redirects users to the wallet manufacturer’s site or offers a QR code.

The fake sites throw an error when selecting any wallet and prompt for a mnemonic phrase or private key.

Some have already fallen victim to the attackers’ actions. In one Telegram channel, a user said they lost 1.14 ETH in this way.

As of writing, fake sites are still advertised in Google search results for ‘Uniswap’.

In May, researchers discovered 22 extensions in the Google Chrome browser that impersonate official cryptocurrency wallet products.
