Media: Co-founders of the Finiko pyramid scheme have been declared internationally wanted

The Vakhitovsky District Court of Kazan granted the petitions for arrest in absentia of three Finiko pyramid co-founders — Marat and Edward Sabirov, and Zygmunt Zygmuntovich. reports ‘Real Time’ citing its own sources.

An investigator with the GSU of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tatarstan sought to remand them in custody for two months from the moment of detention or crossing the border into Russia. All three have been placed on the international wanted list, with the materials sent to Interpol.

In December 2020, Sabirovs and Zygmuntovich were questioned as witnesses in the case concerning the creation of a financial pyramid and illicit fundraising.

In July 2021, they became defendants in a new criminal case for fraud in a particularly large amount and were declared federally wanted. However they had managed to leave the country.

Earlier, police detained Finiko founder Kirill Doronin, who acquired Turkish citizenship. He was remanded in custody until September 28.

On July 13, Finiko suspended payments and requested clients to provide documents, confirming the origin of invested funds. Later, Doronin said that he had lost access to user accounts, and his partners stopped getting in touch.

In a subsequent video address, the co-founders said that as early as the beginning of July they transferred all investors’ funds of the pyramid to Doronin at his request, when he was allegedly seized in Turkey.

The real damage from the pyramid’s activities, according to independent experts, exceeds $4 billion, and the number of those affected is no fewer than 850,000 people.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Tatarstan and other regions continues to receive statements from investors. The amounts of losses range from 100,000 to 10 million rubles.

An investigation has also been opened in the Kazakh city of Almaty.
