Media: Serena Williams reportedly declines Coinbase investment

Information about the cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has disappeared from the website of Serena Williams’s venture fund. Business Insider drew attention to possible changes in Serena Ventures’ investment portfolio in Business Insider

In April 2019, Williams spoke about her fund and investments in Coinbase. According to the athlete, Serena Ventures selects projects that are distinguished by "leadership, individual potential, creativity and prospects."

According to the Web Archive service, in Serena Ventures’ version of July 14, 2020, Coinbase’s logo appeared in the "Our Investments" category.

At present, the logo of the crypto exchange does not appear in the section.

The publication suggests that removing information about the platform signals the fund’s decision not to invest in Coinbase. A possible reason could be the exchange’s new mission and the stance of its CEO, Brian Armstrong.

Earlier, he barred employees from discussing political and social topics unless they related to the cryptocurrency industry. To dissenters, he offered to resign.

Recall that 60 employees did not accept the "apolitical mission". Armstrong did not rule out that more people could leave Coinbase.
