Mentee Robotics Unveils AI-Powered Menteebot Android

Israeli firm Mentee Robotics has unveiled the Menteebot android, designed for use in domestic settings and warehouse facilities.

The manufacturers describe it as a robot equipped with artificial intelligence capable of performing complex tasks.

Mentee released a video showcasing the android receiving a verbal command and executing the given task. The robot’s response includes locomotion, spatial orientation, as well as object detection and manipulation.

According to company representatives, Menteebot employs AI in stages.

Initially, large language models are used to interpret commands and devise the necessary steps to complete the task.

Then, utilizing algorithms based on NeRF, it constructs a cognitive 3D map of the environment in real-time, enhanced with semantic information about objects and items. It then localizes itself in space and plans a trajectory to avoid obstacles.

Finally, the android executes the planned steps along the designated path using the machine learning approach Sim2Real, which determines the required locomotion in a virtual environment and implements it in the real world through gait and arm movements.

“We are on the brink of merging computer vision, natural language understanding, and the methodology of transitioning from simulation to the real world,” stated company co-founder Amnon Shashua.

Developers claim the final version of the humanoid, ready for production, will be equipped with a camera, proprietary electric motors supporting “unprecedented dexterity,” and fully integrated AI.

Menteebot is expected to be ready for deployment in the first quarter of 2025.

Earlier in April, Chinese company UBTech partnered with Baidu to integrate speech and reasoning capabilities into the industrial humanoid Walker S.
