“Today we are starting international expansion in 100 countries across Africa, the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East, and North and South America. In addition, we now support connecting Coinbase Wallet and Dapper Wallet, as well as the ability to display digital collectibles issued on the Flow blockchain,” the announcement said.
Meta launched a pilot project to integrate NFTs into Instagram in May 2022. Chosen users were allowed to set non-fungible tokens as profile pictures.
Under the initiative, the social network supports assets on the Ethereum, Polygon and Flow blockchains. Wallets Rainbow, MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Coinbase Wallet and Dapper Wallet are available for connection. In the initial announcement Meta promised to integrate Phantom, but has not done so yet.
There are no fees for the service.
In the second quarter of 2022, the losses of Meta’s metaverse-focused division exceeded $2.8 billion.
