Meta to Introduce User-Created AI in Instagram

Meta Corporation is set to introduce AI characters in Instagram, crafted by creators using AI Studio. Testing will commence in the United States, according to CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

“Early testing of AI Studio has begun in the U.S., so in the coming weeks, you might see AI from your favorite creators and AI based on your interests on Instagram. For now, they will primarily appear in messages and be clearly marked as artificial intelligence,” he said.

Zuckerberg noted that his company is currently focused on creating numerous API that reflect people’s interests. This will enable every creator or small business on the platform to develop AI to interact with customers, communities, and fans in the future.

“We don’t yet know what will be the most engaging, interesting, and trustworthy. Therefore, we want to provide people with tools to experiment and see what ultimately works well,” he noted.

The new functionality will initially be available to about 50 creators and a small percentage of users. The audience will gradually expand, with a full launch expected by August.

Back in September 2023, Meta introduced the AI Studio platform for creating AI.

In April 2024, the corporation announced the launch of the Meta AI assistant across its platforms.

In June, TikTok announced the introduction of generative AI avatars for content creators and actors.
