MetaMask adds option to buy cryptocurrency with fiat

The MetaMask team, a non-custodial wallet, has launched Buy Crypto in Portfolio Dapp, enabling users to purchase cryptocurrencies with fiat money.

Users can go to the decentralized application, connect their wallet and select the Buy tab.

The service is available in 189 countries. Among the supported payment methods are debit and credit cards, PayPal, bank transfer, or ACH.

The option supports over 90 tokens across eight networks (Ethereum, Polygon, Optimism, Arbitrum, BNB Chain, Avalanche, Fantom and Celo).

Depending on the region and differences in KYC rules, order amounts may be restricted.

The new functionality has been made possible through partnerships with several providers, including:

• PayPal;
• MoonPay;
• Sardine;
• Banxa;
• Onramp.money;
• Mercuryo;
• Transak.

The developers plan to expand the number of payment methods and providers in the future.

MetaMask, in collaboration with OpenSea and Blockaid, has implemented a warning about possible scams.
