The option is implemented using the Snaps developer tool. This system runs in an isolated environment and allows anyone to extend MetaMask’s capabilities.

For example, Snaps can add new API to MetaMask, support for various blockchain protocols, or modify existing functionality,” the tool’s description says.
In March, ConsenSys, the owner of MetaMask, announced that the wallet’s monthly active users had surpassed 30 million.
Earlier, ConsenSys founder Joseph Lubin hinted at the possibility of a MetaMask token.
However, the project’s chief operating officer, Jacob Cantale warned, that in this case users should not expect a generous airdrop.
